About

Hey Y’all!

I’m Stephanie Wetzel. Born and raised in California, I now live in northeast Georgia, on eight acres off a dirt road. My redneck soul has finally found its home.

I’m 40-something, married to Charlie for over 15 years.  We have three partially-civilized kids.

LC, born 1997. Artist, Drama King, Leader.

Hannah, born 1999. Dancer, Dreamer, Thinker. (She saw this and insisted that I add “Artist”)

Abby, born 2002. Singer, Mathematician, Queen of the Universe.

My house is always filthy, but it’s not my fault. See dirt road above. Also? Dogs. We have two big, hairy, smelly dogs and one small dog who live in the house. Callie is 14 and smells like old dog. Bob is eight and smells like turtle carcasses (don’t ask). Scruff is who-knows-how-old and adopted us recently. Charlie would love to be dogless. I’d like to have five or six.

Charlie is a writer and former chef. I’m his first editor and recipe tester.

I can’t cook. I can speak Spanish. I’ve been to Guatemala, Mexico, Portugal, Peru, and Great Britain.

Charlie goes to the UK once a year to teach churches about small group ministry and leadership. The kids and I have joined him twice. We all love to travel.

I’m learning at lot about social media lately, in my other gig as blog administrator for John C. Maxwell.

We attend a fantastic church in metro Atlanta called 12Stone (www.12stone.com). Charlie serves on the board and I sing in the choir. I also mentor younger women and go on short-term mission trips when I can.

I used to ride horses all the time. Not so much anymore. I also crochet when I’m not online. Which isn’t much anymore.

I have a short attention span.

I’ve been trying to crack people up with my writing ever since I started passing notes in school.

Besides making you laugh, I also use this blog to make a record of my journey — as a parent, a wife, a friend, and a Christ-follower.

It’s also becoming a little community. Welcome. I hope you’ll join us.

wow! I (used to) ride horses, too. I’m a country girl in Arkansas, who taught myself to crochet this year. (I’m extremely lousy at it, but what a stress reliever!) It’s so great to meet you and read your writing. Thanks again. (I commented to your last post. . .I don’t know where this one will go?. . .)

    Rachel,
Well, I did find your reply. (Fortunately WP emails me. It’s not like I’d know how to do it on my own.)
Sounds like we’re kindred spirits. I hope you keep coming back. I’m off to check out YOUR blog. :)

Steph, you know how you can kinda get a feel ofr what people would be like if you got to meet them face to face? Well, based on what I have read here and the comments you have left on my site, I think that we would get along very well. :-)

I LOVE the dirt theme you have got going on here. And the image on your header about took my breath away – I love the rain.

Voy a estar leyendo tu blog. Que Dios les bendiga grandemente. Nos vemos. :-)

I have a question for ya…why did you go self-hosted? I’m curious because I started out that way (only a month) and then went to a wordpress hosted blog. If you get a chance email me…

    Thanks!!!

I live in California. I’m not sure how I’d feel about a tornado watch. That would probably bother me. I think that’s great your mentor. It’s so good to have someone young girls can look up to and strive to be like. That’s great

I want to ask about the turtle carcasses. I can take it. I have to know.

    Stephanie,
Noticed that you have a link to Medical Supply Group in your right navigation. I also have friends in the medical business (JRS Medical) that would be interested in paying you a 1 time fee for a link like that. How much would it cost?

By the way, enjoy the beach, I live over here close to Ft Walton Beach, FL and love our sandy white beaches.

Very cool blog. My 2 big, hairy, smelly dogs live in my home too. I also have a 9 year old little girl and we love the beach.

Anyhow, I feel like I could spend hours reading your blog.
