Wazzup?

Today I was thinking of writing a post sharing what’s up (i.e. wazzup) in Red Clay Land.

You know, like how the kids are home from school today so they had a sleepover in the living room last night and now at 2 pm they’re still in there playing with the air mattress electric pump.

“Hey! When I put it in my mouth the air comes out my nostrils!”

Or how Hannah got an orthodontic appliance in her mouth a few weeks ago and we still can’t understand a word she says.

“Hey! Schtop schpraying it in my moucch! It driezzzh it out and then makezch me drool!”

Or how it’s pouring and thundering which makes the dogs neurotic and the kids hyperactive.

“Mommmm! Callie’s trying to bury her food in the carpet with her nose again!”

“And Charlie hit me with the air mattress!”

Or how YouTube is a dangerous, dangerous distraction. For this post I looked up the  original “Wazzup” Budweiser commercial. Do you remember it? This one:

My kids begged to watch with me. Then they saw the Simpsons version in the sidebar and begged to watch it too:

Followed, in succession, by the Matrix, Harry Potter, and Spongebob versions. I put my foot down after Teletubbies.

“That’s IT! We are NOT watching any more versions of this video! Go PLAY!”

Can you imagine how surreal it is to hear preteens reenacting a beer commercial from 2000?

“Wazzup?”

“Nothing. Watchin the game, drinkin a Bud.”

“True, true…”

“Okay Abby! You be Dookie!”

“Yo! Dookie!”

“WAZZAAAAAAAAHHHHH!”

“WAZZAAAAAAAAHHHHH!”

“WAZZAAHH! / AAAHHH! / ZAHHH! / WAZAAAHHHHHHHH”

So that’s wazzup wit me. Wazzup wit’chu?
