Okay, so this is me on a Thursday morning. Waiting for snow…
I mean “SNOW”
…that forecasters predict to arrive this afternoon. Or perhaps this evening. Or more likely, next YEAR.
But I’m not bitter.
Even if my friends in ENGLAND have more snow right now than we’ve ever gotten, well, EVER.
Anyway.
Yesterday I got my hair cut, visited the Walmart in search of cheap gloves …
(Success: 1 pair of girls’ size medium, all alone on the wrong rack and thus somehow not picked over before yesterday; and 2 pair of ski mittens, men’s LARGE, one pair of which I will wear OVER my own gloves.)
…and did all my grocery shopping.
(The rebel in me would like to point out that I did NOT stock up on bread and milk because of the impending “STORM” but because we were actually almost out of bread and milk. But she’d be totally lying.)
Charlie chopped a whole bunch of wood for me yesterday too.
My biggest fear is that with all this preparation for snow, we’re like the guy who brings his umbrella and causes it to NOT rain.
HOWEVER.
We do have one “ace in the hole,” so to speak:
The one thing the parents of three kids can do that fairly GUARANTEES a weather emergency:
We scheduled a date for tonight. Just the two of us, for dinner and a movie. With a babysitter lined up and everything.
So all you fellow North Georgians, if you find yourselves making snow angels later today, you can thank me and Charlie.
You’re welcome.
(And I’d totally trade a night out “on the town” for family playtime in the snow ANY DAY.)
PS I’m very angry at WordPress right now. After 30 minutes, I STILL can’t get the picture above to CENTER. Shut up, WordPress.

It’s supposed to get down to the teens tonight in Houston and everyone is FREAKING OUT! No snow, though…
Glad you stocked up on bread and milk. Gotta have the bread and the milk.

I agree with katdish – gotta have the bread and milk. Here’s hoping you get your snow. But if you don’t, trust me when I say it’s not all it’s cracked up to be anyway.

We’ve got the fridged temps right now and I am not enjoying it one bit. Only could get myself to walk to the end of the street to drop my kids off at school.

Hope you get your snow, but you could always come visit me here in AK.
By the way, you need to let WordPress talk. We need to hear both sides of the story.

Gotta have the bread and milk…reminds me of a funny story…
I had bread and milk in the house, but a friend told me about a bisquick bread recipe using bisquick, beer, and sugar. It sounded like a good thing to have handy in case what I had wasn’t enough, so I went into Jewel at about 10:30 at night and bought beer, bisquick, and snicker bar snack pack for my students, in case school wasn’t cancelled because of the upcoming storm (we were having a party…). The cashier gives me the oddest look….Remember it is just before a predicted snowstorym “Bisquick, Beer, and Snicker Bars?” she says.
“Yep. Just the staples….” says me.
Not so funny? Fine. Whatever.

I grew up in Chicago, but lived in North Alabama for a few years. We always made fun of the people that stocked up on bread and milk, but on the other hand, I usually ran out of bread and milk right about the time we’d need to stock up anyway. And then I couldn’t find any because the stores were all out. I’m still bitter.

Ya know, I’m not a big fan of bread and milk in any weather. I was the kid that picked the crusts off my sammies in Kindegarten. And I only use milk when baking. My and Bubba’s shopping trip this week was more like Diet Coke and Lean Pockets than bread and milk… But I’m totally not judging you.

“milk and bread”……ahhhhhh, those infamous ingredients for comfort during a blizzard. not!
Living in New England all my life…..my first order of business when a storm is coming is getting all the ingredients for loaded nachos.
Hope you were able to make many snow angels…..seriously, making them is great therapy….
……not that *I* have needed to make them lately, just sayin’
