Just a few days ago, Abby brought home a sample story from her “writing portfolio.”
(Did we have portfolios in 1st grade? I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure I was still eating paste until at least age 8.)
Anyway, it seemed so appropriate for this weekend’s celebration.

In case it’s not readable, here’s her text:
I love being me!
I love being me! Becase I never have to change. I’m fine wereever I am as long as I’m with momy, dady, Hannah, or, Charlie. I have good and speshall dogs. Their names are Bob, Cally, and, Scruff. I have every thing I will ever need. I don’t want to belong to some one ells. I have a wonderful family. Im happy the way I am!
I love being me!
PS No, she does not have any self-esteem issues.

She said it so sweetly….and confidently. That’s a great thing.

Well, you’re doing something right! I haven’t found that type of confidence in all my 30 years.
