Hey,
Thank you to all who’ve commented or Tweeted your condolences to our family this week on the passing of Charlie’s dad. Charlie has been really busy with funeral arrangements and dealing with the estate. Here in Georgia, life kinda goes on.
So in that vein, yesterday the kids and I went to see “UP.”
The verdict: WONDERFUL movie. Charlie and I tend to rank kids’ movies based on whether we think we’ll buy them when available, or rent (and make sure to leave the room when they watch it). “UP” is definitely a BUY movie.
Then there’s today….
Well, today I have spent just trying to catch up. It took me until noon to read my emails. I’ve played backgammon for my very first time with a 6-year-old who’s only played it twice with her Daddy.
It turns out that I’m a lousy sport when I play with someone who makes up the rules.
So far this summer, I seem to alternate between confidence and hopelessness in my ability to cope with managing parenting, writing, and housekeeping. Let’s just say that today is NOT a confident day.
At any rate, I’m doing the best I can with the time that I have. And I did come across a couple interesting/funny things in my email reading.
1.
Church folks — looking for the next step toward “relevance” with this generation? Your search is over, with The Ten Commandments, in TXT Spk!
(I linked to Fast Company’s post because I liked the photo, but it’s originally from McSweeney’s.)
2.
Some of you might be debating an adventure in the wilderness of Twitter. To help you make up your mind, here’s the now-weekly Twitter Update from my favorite Twitter Ho, Katdish. It’ll make you either jump in or run away. But I bet you’ll no longer be on the fence.
(Which reminds me of a tweet Annie K made about how she’s on her way to Twitterhodome.)
(I wonder if that’s beyond Thunderdome…)
***
Gosh. That’s all I’ve got. I’ve been interrupted once every 5 minutes since I started writing. Right now the kids are taking turns setting up a tent and collapsing it on each other in the hallway.
I probably should be glad that they’re taking turns. But I fear that this will not end well.

Text speak one was kind of funny. I had a hard time following text speak, though, even though I know the “God’s Top Ten” list.
As for your favorite twitter ho, I love her too. Though it seems there is a twitter ho strike going on this afternoon…

Ooooo. I really want to go see Up with my daughter. Glad it’s got the Steph stamp of approval. I don’t think my three-year-old son will last that long in a movie theater, let alone the baby, but she and I….well, we should make it a mom and daughter afternoon sometime.
Dude. Some days I just sit back, watch the chaos, and hope they forget this particular day in their childhood. But the tent thing DID made me laugh. It took me about 7 hours to even start anything remotely productive today…and my three year old just kept repeating the words “green beans” for like 20 minutes today. So here’s to a more confident week next week, right? Keep hanging in there. It’s got to be tough without Charlie there.

Yes, I was a miserable twitter ho yesterday. Non-virtual life and whatnot. Then when I sat down at my computer last night, Twitter was down for maintenance. What’s a ho to do?
And when are you going to write a blog post for me? Inquiring minds wanna know…

I think you need a daily DVD time to have some peace and quiet. Just saying.
