Today is Charlie’s and my 15th Wedding Anniversary.
It’s also the day at the end of the Civil War when Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appomatox. If we’d been Southerners 15 years ago, I bet we would’ve picked a different date. Or worn black.
This year our anniversary falls on Passover too. Since Passover is ultimately about God’s mighty power to rescue those he loves, I think it’s fitting. God certainly rescued me from my family history and my own bad choices by providing Charlie.
The verse on our wedding program? “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:17).
This morning we exchanged cards. Here’s what Charlie wrote (and yes, I did get his permission to post it)

It’s hard to believe it’s been 15 years! Remember back in our first married Sunday school class, when we used to look at couples married that long and we thought it was SUCH a long time?
It seems so very short now. The blink of an eye. The only things that indicate the passage of time are the ages of our kids and the sense of how far we’ve come.
What’s wonderful is that the best is still yet to come. And God willing, we still have lots of time to fulfill our dreams together.
So Happy Anniversary! Let’s celebrate the day we committed ourselves to one body, one family, one life. (And one brain!)

Yes, he is truly that wonderful.
And his card totally outshone the one I gave him.
Although the booger joke in mine was funny – I don’t care who you are.

Aw, shucks Steph! I missed your anniversary? Happy Belated Anniversary! Ron is way better than writing nice things on card than I am. He’s quiet but thoughtful. Sort of like me only completely different. Also, you really should check your gmail.

How sweet – I can’t get my hubby to give me a card. He rolled his eyes at me last week when I asked him if he would still love me when I was 64 (the song was on the radio).
