Captain’s Log. Stardate: Wednesday.

What? Don’t get the obscure “3-2-1 Penguins!” reference?

Listen, it’s Spring Break here.

Between the feeding and the cleaning and the fighting and the entertaining and the furniture scaling, I’ve had virtually no time to even look at the computer.

Then today (Tuesday) all my colleagues at Fellowship of the Traveling Smarty Pants decided that an irreverent post on cremation deserved at least 50 attempts via comments to out-inappropriate it. (They succeeded.) All my time on the computer was taken up reading all of them.

So here’s what I’ve been thinking about in my spare time:

1.

You people are simply the BEST. Such NICE and flattering comments! I was gonna do the “You like me, you really like me” joke about Sally Field, but I’ve already run that one into the ground. I just hope I haven’t artificially raised your expectations.

I guess today’s post will lower them to more manageable levels.

2.

This post by Jo over at Mylestones totally cracked me up. Glitter + markers + 1 toddler… What’s not to like? I propose that it’s at least as funny as Sharpies + 2 toddlers + desk + wall. (Remind me to tell you that one sometime.)

3.

I don’t think I’ve mentioned this enough: Tween girls are …challenging. Or maybe just MY tween girl, who managed in one afternoon to get herself fined, sent to the bathroom to cool off, and eventually banished to her room for 45 minutes. What was she ranting and screaming about, you ask? Why, the evil games on the Wii and computer, which are clearly OUT TO GET HER and/or BROKEN!!!!

4.

American Idol is the devil. Or perhaps just my DVR is possessed.

(I have no idea where Hannah gets her tendency toward anthropomorphizing inanimate objects…)

Right before the last performance by my boyfriend Adam Lambert – in fact, as Ryan Seacrest was saying, “Now here he is…” – the recording stopped. AAAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHH! I read that he got a Standing O from Simon, of all people. But I have Yet. To. See. It.

Grumble.

4.

It is now 11:40 p.m. I got half of my blog work done for the day. And I’ll be gone almost all day Wednesday. (Roller skating!!) I am in some serious …somethin.

Lookin for someone to pray for?

I’m your huckleberry.

Good night.

Someone has posted a link to Adam ‘s performance in their comment on Boo Mama’s blog. Here it is (I hope) …you know me and technology.

He inspires strong reactions in people but I’m gonna say I loved it anyway.

Oh, and about the tween thing..have fun with that.

I got it! I got the obscure 3-2-1 Penguins reference? Does that make me cool? No? Just a bit too familiar with all forms of children’s TV? Shoot.
So thanks for the link love! I’m looking forward to hearing that story about the sharpies, toddlers, desk & wall. Luckily you can vacuum up glitter (although it is surprisingly more difficult to extract than dog hair–who knew?)

Rollerskating? That activity would probably be the death of me.

And just wait…tweendom turns to teenagedom…Good times!

Joyce – Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou! I’ll watch ASAP.

Jo – Yeah, what it means is that you have just as much (or little) of a life as I do. I almost included in my post my speculation about glitter and dog hair. Technically, what happens when a dog gets INTO glitter. Does your Calli sparkle?

American Idol is the devil, tempting people away from Dancing With the Stars.
    Get behind me, Stan.

Anthropomorphizing. That’s one of them big college words. Ya know, like Campho-Phenique…

Last year, the devil took over my TiVO during the Idol season ender. Remember how the two final contenders were both named David? Ryan Seacrest was all dragging out the announcement and just as he said “the new American Idol is…David…” the TiVO kicked off. Yeah, it wasn’t a good time for me. God bless Google.

MARNI! I AM SHOCKED! ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED! I distinctly remember you stating that you never watch American Idol because it has the word idol in the title and idols are bad! You were my inspiration!

Annie – Rollerskating turned out to be fun. I’m a decent skater, but I always end up the designated little-kid-teacher. So I spend the entire day hunched over, holding up 40 lbs of dead weight with one arm, and dancing to avoid running over said dead weight. So I am WHIPPED. But no broken bones. So all in all, a success.

Marni – Campho-Phenique. *snort* You know, you can’t find that stuff in stores anymore. You must be a member of my club: the Editrices. (Which of course is plural for Editrix.) It’s a sickness.

Helen – You should know better than to make ANY ONE of this group a role model for yourself. It’s like trying to learn ethics from Blagoyevich.

I love the “I’m your huckleberry” comment! Good luck! I hear Spring break is a bear, though I wouldn’t know as every day here is spring break. Seriously, Good luck.

I finally found another mom who will actually roller skate??

    Sweeeeet!

Helen, I don’t watch AI…this season ;) But Steph is right, don’t be lookin’ for role models in the likes of those of us who hang out here, SCL or FOTTSP. We’re stumbling blocks…
