This post is what you get when I stay up till midnight surfing the blogosphere.
Thursday night, my friend Katdish of Hey Look a Chicken fame linked to a blog I’d never visited before, Chronicles of Marnia. (Hi Marni!)
So when I visited Katdish around 11:30, I clicked over to Marni…
(Still tracking with me?)
…And Marni had posted a couple YouTube videos of a comedian named Tim Hawkins. (Very funny. Go visit Marni and watch. You’ll just laugh and laugh…)
Done? Okay.
So I started watching the first video. About halfway through, my phenomenally accurate memory kicked in.
I realized that I knew this comedian, and I had heard him sing this song. It turns out that he’d actually performed at my church in the past year.
Yeah, I’m that good.
So anyhoo, then Charlie watched it with me.
(And of course he remembered everything about that particular event, including the guy’s haircut. And make of guitar.)
This made me cranky. Clearly, Charlie did it on purpose just to mock me.
But I forgave Charlie when he reminded me of another song Hawkins had performed at our church.
(And poured me more coffee. And told me he loved me. And rubbed my feet.) (TMI?)
It is my absolute favorite Tim Hawkins song. In fact, this may be my absolute favorite song ever.
Ever. Ever. Ever.
(And when you talk to me in six months, you can remind me of that, K?)
I searched YouTube and found not only the song, but its actual “professional” music video. And really, once you watch it, you’ll realize that no explanation is necessary.

Awesome—Tim Hawkins did not do this one on his television infomercial, so this one was brand new to me. I love the look of the “ten pound bass…” at the end….

Hey Steph! Thanks for virtual love. I love me some Cletus Take the Reel. My husband showed it to me a few months ago and we laughed until bladder function was nearly compromised.
