Wordless Wednesday

Close to three years ago, I finally met my hero:

Me and my hero

I told him so when I asked him to sign a book.

A book that I have lost somewhere in my house.

Dangit.

    I replied to this, but for some reason it's not showing on my computer. So take two:

    I met him at the Erma Bombeck Humor Writers' Conference in Ohio. He was the keynote speaker.

    I stood in line to have him sign a book. When I got to him, all I could say was, "You're my hero." The book that I can't find now in my house has this inside the back cover:

    To Stephanie,
    You're my hero.
    Dave Barry

    Sigh. I'm sure I'm the ONLY person he ever wrote that to.

    It's Dave Barry, a humor writer who had a weekly column in most US newspapers for years. (He doesn't do a weekly anymore.) He's got a warped sense of humor, which I think I adopted in my own writing.

    Well, color me totally impressed! I LOVE Shawn Cassidy! (Oh, kidding!) I'm a huge Dave Barry fan. One of my favorite lines (from his travel guide): Manitoba – means literally "many tubas". That is way cool.
