Howdy Y’all! Didja miss me?
With three kids home all day every day for another week, I’ve been a little busy…
Taking kids out to spend their Christmas money.
Eating Christmas candy.
Being mocked by my new Wii Fit.
(Skinny digital trainer chick: “Maybe balance just isn’t your forte. Work every day on the easier games and come back to me to try again.” Me: “Oh yeah? I got yer balance right HERE! And EAT something, why dontcha?!”)
Rationing Wii playing time between all five of us.
Having deep discussions on the the logic of reindeer names.
(See, Dasher makes total sense. Dancer and Prancer might be a little too Alvin-Aileyish, but they work too. On the other hand, Cupid? Vixen? And while we’re on this topic, WHY isn’t Rudolph listed in the original poem? My children are losing sleep over this.)
Oh, and I’ve also been doing battle with my feed. I THINK I finally fixed it, but in the meantime Feedburner has become a character (a bad guy, obviously) in my dreams.

I can’t imagine what’s kept me from blogging. I just seem to be running low on brain cells. But I’ve been catching up on some reading (bloggy and otherwise).
In print, I’m reading The Reason for God: Belief in an Age of Skepticism by Timothy Keller (yes, thank you katdish), Outliers: The Story of Success
by Malcolm Gladwell, and a 12-inch stack of magazines I’m behind on.
Both books are entertaining, informative and challenging. The magazines? Just making me wonder what I was thinking when I subscribed to National Geographic AND National Geographic Explorer AND National Geographic Adventure. I mean, really. Who needs that many bare torsos?
***
I definitely recommend the above books, but if you’re looking for some entertaining, informative, and/or challenging stuff in the blogosphere, check these out:
Scribbit - We’re not buds or anything, but I loved her Monday post on Blogging Speed Bumps. If you’re a blogger and ever get discouraged (and really, what blogger doesn’t?), read this. It put some things in perspective for me.
Hey Look! A Chicken! – Katdish is a new and really cool friend. She makes me crack up almost as much as I do. (Think about it.) If you don’t read her, click over RIGHT NOW. (why are you still here?)
@ngie – One of my missionary friends, she’s in Bolivia. Besides the multi-culti stuff, she writes about her faith and parenting journeys. I love her genuineness.
The Domestic Fringe – Fringegirl is a girl after my own heart. Funny, sincere, almost as scatterbrained as I am. She’s coming up on her 100th post, so get over there and meet her so you can say you “knew her when.”
I could showcase so many other bloggers here, but I’ll stop with these four.
Go visit, read, comment, introduce yourself. It drives me crazy that some of you who are connected to ME aren’t yet connected to each other.
You must remedy this – post-haste!

And now I’d like to tell you when my next post will be…
But I can’t. Perhaps I’ll get a break in candy-doling, fight-refereeing, and little-wire-ties-from-Barbie-packaging-gathering before the New Year.
If not, I want you to know that your visits, comments, and emails have made the second half of my 2008 richer than I would’ve thought possible when I launched this journey.
Thank you!
And Happy New Year!
(cuz we both know the Barbie twist-ties may be my demise.)

Have a wonderful 2009!
Enjoy this time.

I'll second the 'low brain cell' thing… Must be all those days off and not working – no stimulation makes Annie a dull blogger (so just better not to write anything and post pics and ridiculous dog videos!).
Glad you had an awesome Christmas and happy new year! (uh…your feed thingy is possessed…doesn't like my URL. Funny, no one's ever told me they didn't like my URL before. I think I have a lovely URL…Hrrrrmph…)

Sounds like you are way busy!!! But having a blast.

I have GOT to get Raving Rabbids. I think I'd be a pro because that happens to be by far my strongest muscle.

I think you have a lovely URL too. Sounds like I'm gonna have to keep fighting the fight…. Feedburner, why do you mock me?!

I'm not really the hugging type…but those twistie ties are of the devil…so if you lived in rural indiana vs. rural GA, I would be clinging to you and repeating, "Make the bad twisties go away!" No Wii fit for us yet. I want it sometime (expensive!!), but we did get Wii Music as a gift and I had a good time laughing at my husband singing Grandfather's Clock as a cat and failing at playing handbells….it's wierd. We love it.

Hey! I've been off the computer for a couple of days too (but I guess you probably instinctively KNEW that.) And yeah, that Wii personal trainer chick is a real pain in my big, ham sandwich eating butt! And speaking of butts, you should talk your kids into spending their Christmas money on Raving Rabbids 3 – TV Party which, as I mentioned before, with the Wii fit board you can play with your butt. How awesome is that?

Isn't it fun fighting the kids for the Wii?! I think my hubs has a Wii fit for me for my birthday in a few weeks – thank you for preparing me in advance for the skinny trainer. I hate her already! (haha)

THIS explains the spike on my stats chart! Seriously, whereas I dabble around the 80 mark most days (mas o menos) right now I am at a soaring 219 baby! … not that stats matter to me all that much… I mean really… not a big deal… um… yeah… so… what I meant to say was:
THANKS FOR THE LINK LOVE!!!
YOU, my SSBBBFF, are my fourth quarter find that simply lights up my life.
Now… why am I still here? I am off to mingle.
Happy New Year!

I blogged about Wii Fit today too!
Yes, the trainers are a bit condescending. Although mine told me today that he didn't get enough sleep last night. Therefore, I can write them off as party-hardy know-it-all's. Sheesh.
11 Steph // Dec 31, 2008 at 2:19 am
Yeah, my trainer chick said she didn't sleep well. I took it as meaning she had a hangover. Then I did everything I could to make her headache worse…

Not buds??? I'm crushed!
But thanks for the link, seems a lot of people have been feeling that way lately.
Come on over and bring your wii fit with you–then we can mock the skinny trainer chick together

@annie, Sorry about the possessed feed thingy… This is one of those times when I wish I was more tech-savvy. I guess you could try to take me off your blogroll and then put me back on?
14 Steph // Jan 1, 2009 at 1:26 am
Oooo! I hope you get your Wii Fit. It really is cool. If I can just get over caring what the trainer chick thinks of me
then I should be fine. That and committing to only do the body test once a week. Cuz once a day is DEPRESSING. And makes me want to eat cookie dough straight from the tub.
15 Steph // Jan 1, 2009 at 1:28 am
Wow, I'd love to take credit for that spike. But I don't think I, with my 20-odd readers, could have had that much effect. Unless there's some sort of multiplicative quality to link luv that I don't know about…

Uh…LOL…I figured out (when I posted another comment about PEBO) that it was not your feed thingimajig that was possessed but it was merely an IO error on my part… Doh!! (Maybe because I was singing Carbonara OPERA in my head or something…!) And the spaghetti western comment…that had me and Jon laughing so hard. Definitely the best comment of 2008!

Happy New Year Steph! Hey, I just registered for Blissdom…you're going too, right? Im so excited. Hope you've had a fun holiday season with your fam.
18 Steph // Jan 2, 2009 at 1:20 am
Hey! Happy new year to you! Yes, I'll be at Blissdom! It'll be good to see you there!
Do you plan to go to any other conferences this year? I'm trying to decide if it's worth it for me to save up to go to BlogHer.
