An Evening with the Four — Er, Three — Horsemen

THUMPTHUMPTHUMPTHUMPTHUMP!

Three kids in swimsuits (in November?) round the corner from the hall into the living room.

Abby, who turns 6 tomorrow, shouts to our expectant faces,

“We’re playing ApocalypTH!

Charlie and I share a glance that contains an entire conversation:

“Do you know anything about this?”

“Yes. Sadly, I do.”

“Any ideas on the swimsuits?”

“Yeah, they probably transitioned to Apocalypse from their Jungle Kid game.”

“Oh. Do I need to worry about this Apocalypse thing?”

“Trust me; it’s not worth it. Their explanation won’t make any sense to you anyway.”

***

The moment passes and the kids, bored by our lack of response, wander back down the hall.

As they disappear into a bedroom, we hear Little Charlie say,

“Let’s keep playing the apocalypse game, but now it’s a remix version, so it’s not so apocalypsy.”

I look at Charlie.

“ApocalypTIC!” he yells.

    This is a great sentence:

Charlie and I share a glance that contains an entire conversation

ok, ya got me. Why are your kids playing “Apocalypse?” Is there an inside joke/some new something that the blonde missed? I think it’s incredibly creative of your children, but I don’t get it. (What’s new?) : )

    HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

    @RachelK,
Inside joke? Probably, the kind that kids find hilarious. We don’t get it either. Thus the puzzling post. I’m sure they’re not using the word correctly. They just like how it sounds.

My kids are really creative, it’s true. They baffle me all the time.

Kids are awesome. lol. Totally reminds me of my brothers and I when we were younger. My sister should be glad she was born 10 years after me…she missed doing all the embarassing stuff I forced on the boys. lol.
