My entry for Wordless Wednesday isn’t exactly wordless. Maybe I talk too much to participate in this meme. Oh well.
Here in Georgia, the vibrant colors are fading.
Leaves flutter down on the road as I drive, propelled by a near-constant breeze.
The world is turning grey: sky, tree trunks, even the forest floor.
This makes me sad. I’ll miss the bright, clear light of fall.
I’ll miss the orange and yellow and red that lit up our woods.
But life is not constant.
The world doesn’t stop turning. Seasons come and go.
Now, as winter approaches and the season turns dull and gloomy,
that seems like bad news.
But just as winter is following on the heels of autumn, spring will come after the winter.
Grey will be replaced with a rainbow of colors.
Death, as illustrated by grey tree trunks, will be covered over with green new life.
Evidence of winter is all around me, but I’m holding out for spring. How about you?

My thoughts exactly! I cherish the fall, but the season is much too short here in SOuthern Illinois. As soon as all the leaves drop, I anticipate the first snow, THEN bring on the spring! Gotta have that first snow, though.
Love the photo.

Dear Steph Steph bo Beph,
For your not-so-wordless Wednesday I will leave a not-so-wordless comment.
I love that you chose to post a picture of the leaves already fallen. Usually fall pictures are the ones of the trees full of color. They are indeed beautiful in their temporal ethereal bursts. Yet, here you have captured in sight and verse the earthy allure of the long change. Lovely.

I like the bed of pine needles under your leaves. Up here (NY) we don’t have that sweet cushion…just mud…that will reappear after the snow melts in the spring!

See I love Fall. I think it’s my favorite! But I don’t like it once all the leaves are rained away…then everyone has to be inside and I have to stare at my neighbor’s trampoline for three months…but wait–I just got my own children a trampoline–so now I get to stare at two trampolines…filling with leaves…

Very poetic. I love the photo with all the scattered yellow leaves.

Hmm great perspective on the photo…all of your words, and also with the view finder. I needed this now.
