Welcome to The Red Clay Diaries

Hi there! I’m Stephanie, and I guess I have something to say. At any rate, I have a place to say it.

I’m a 40 year old mom of three living in northeast Georgia. I’m busy all day, but I never finish my to-do list. Our house is on 8 acres in the country outside of a tiny town with no stoplight. I’m the cleaning lady, the drill sergeant, the laundry queen, the taxi driver, and the “meanest mom in the world!!!” (according to my kids)

We have two big dogs who spend their days eating, barking, tracking in mud, and shedding inside the house. Callie, at age 12, mostly sheds and eats. Bob, the younger and smaller of the two, also likes to hunt for turtles, snakes, rabbits, squirrels, and (sadly) cats. He may or may not consume them, but his primary goal is to roll in their rotting carcasses. Bob gets a lot of baths.

DH is Charlie, a writer who works at home. DS is 10. DD’s are 8 and 5. As a family, we like to read, hike, play board games, and travel. DH and kids play instruments. I don’t. I sing okay. Kids are finally getting good enough at piano to accompany us all for carol singing this Christmas. (Not that we actually will sing carols, but we could if we wanted to.) Charlie and I have been married 14 years.

My interests: I grew up riding horses, but I don’t get to much anymore. I love to travel, and I’m fluent in Spanish. I mentor younger women at my church. I sing in the choir at our church (www.12stone.com) about once a month. I’m a recovering controlaholic who ended up using my first two kids as practice children for all the things I’m finally doing right with the third. (I’m trying to make it up to the older two.)

I started crocheting this past summer, and it’s my latest obsession.

My goal with this blog is to make a record of my journey — as a parent, a wife, a friend, and a Christ-follower. Please let me know if it helps you.
